THERE ARE NO STRATING OR ENDING POINTBook Design, Motion
This project challenges the traditional concept of time, suggesting that the past, present, and future do not simply flow in a linear sequence but coexist and influence each other. By deconstructing and reconstructing the traditional form of a clock, this work aims to dismantle the illusion of time and encourage deeper exploration.

Through a time-based format with videos and book, the project invites the audience to engage with important questions: Is time an objective reality, or merely a construct of human perception? The video component presents a series of open-ended questions that prompt the viewer to reconsider the boundaries of time. The ticking of the clock in the video draws attention to time and raises questions about where the beginning and end of life truly lie within an infinite loop.

Meanwhile, the book deconstructs the traditional structure of the clock, Reinterpreting time to question traditional perceptions of it. This reconstruction reveals the fluid and interdependent nature of past, present, and future. Instead of presenting a fixed order, the audience is invited to actively redefine these temporal categories by rotating the pages themselves. The ticking clock at the center of the book serves as a reminder that the time we perceive is not an endless flow, but is shaped by our personal experiences and consciousness.

By immersing the audience in this reconstructed time and continuously questioning whether time is truly flowing, this work demonstrates how time is defined, experienced, and ultimately perceived.

“Is time an objective reality, or merely a construct of human perception?”

Problem
Humans tend to become more pessimistic as they age. This idea came from observing my parents. Yet, we must remember: every human dies, and every human ages. How can we embrace the moment of aging in a different way?

Insight
Time is not something that simply flows away it is the coexistence of past, present, and future. The past should not be a source of regret, and the future should not be a source of fear.

Design Solution
To convey this realization, I prepared both a book and a video project.

Video : A direct experience of time’s flow

Video is ingerently time-based, forcing the audience to follow its flow and experience time directly.

Book : A physical manipulation of time
The book allows for an active interaction with time. The book is designed in a circular form, resembling a clock. Readers can rearrange its shapes freely, prompting them to reconsider the meaning of time.

First Draft

Feedback

The subject was too broad, making it difficult for viewers to fully understand.

Final Version

Result
By simplifying the layout according to the feedback, the work became much easier for the audience to understand. Moreover, this project not only enhanced my design but also helped change my own values in life, bringing me greater peace.
