STRANGE MUSEUM Mobile Game Design& Coding
  • Personal Work
  • Duration : 3 months
This is an infinity runner mobile game that I designed and coded.
I created the game's visuals using traditional Korean folk paintings,
aiming to capture people's interest in the past.

"If you don't take an interest in the past, it will be forgotten."

This is the value system that I primarily focused on while creating this artwork. To truly understand the world, it's essential to have a grasp of history. Without knowledge of the past, we may repeat the same mistakes. Moreover, it's important to comprehend and emphasize our culture and values. That's why I created this game.

This game utilizes traditional Korean folk tales to convey history and culture in an engaging and accessible way. Within the game, various folk tales are intertwined, and players strive to uncover the true values and meaning hidden within them. Through this, I aim to promote an understanding of our unique values and heritage while delivering significant history and culture in a more thoughtful manner.

Research
I have a deep love for Korean traditional culture, and that passion grew even stronger after I moved from Korea to the U.S. While thinking about design projects related to this theme, I realized that many people today are forgetting their history.

Insight
I decided to create a game that reminds people not to forget history. I chose the popular infinite runner format, designing original characters and a storyline. In the game, a museum curator asks the player to help preserve fading memories. The player, represented as a tiger, collects items to gradually restore history.

Design Solution
I designed the entire game using elements from traditional Korean paintings. By simplifying these motifs, I made the visuals more accessible and appealing to a wide audience.

Challenge
Since it was my first time coding a game, I taught myself entirely through YouTube tutorials.

Result
The project was praised for its strong storytelling.
