CLASSICAL MUSIC IS NOT BORING
Motion video
- Personal project
- Duration : 3 months
This 20-second motion video challenges the stereotype that classical music is boring. Inspired by the intense and dramatic compositions of Prokofiev, the piece translates his rhythmic dissonance and explosive energy into a visual language.
Irregular visual rhythms, broken structures, abrupt cuts, and fractured layouts mirror the music’s unpredictable tempo and dissonant tones. The visuals are not meant to accompany the music passively they collide with it.
Rather than simply listening, I wanted the viewer to feel as though they’re crashing into the music itself.
Research:
I am a big fan of classical music. However, when I tell my friends about it, they said “classical music is so boring!”
Insight:
Showcase how dynamic classical music truly is.
Design Solution:
I visually reinterpreted Stravinsky’s modern compositions by expressing asymmetry, visual rhythms, broken structures, abrupt cuts, and fractured layouts.
Result:
I learned how to connect music with visual elements and translate sound into design.
