GREEN BODY& GREEN COUPON
App Design
-
Personal project
- Duration: 1 weeks
This app is designed for the elderly who fear health check-ups. Most seniors avoid getting health check-ups, leading to delayed treatment and ultimately contributing to premature deaths. The main reason behind this avoidance is their fear. In an effort to address this issue, a platform app has been conceived and designed, where individuals can receive discount coupons as a bonus for undergoing health check-ups. This aims to incentivize and encourage the elderly to prioritize their health screenings.
Research
My parents are afraid of health checkups. Not only my parents, but most seniors tend to avoid them due to fear and financial concerns, making this a significant social issue.
A new study shows that over 1 in 4 American adults (27%) would rather not know they had cancer.
31% avoid going to the doctor over fear of what they might learn.
26% cite fear or anxiety among the top reason why they don’t make or keep doctors’ appointments.

Insight
I realized that people in my parents’ generation really value discount coupons. This inspired the idea of offering coupons as a reward for getting health checkups.
And I want to create a system that could expand to other health-related behaviors in the future.
Feedback
I also received the feedback,
‘On the home screen, what do seniors see first, and how are they guided to take action?’
Based on this, I decided to create an at-a-glance graphic chart that would make it easier for seniors to understand their status right away.
Design Solution 1
An easy-to-read graphic chart
To make it easy for seniors to understand at a glance, I visualized the body with simple graphics.
Each of the three icons represents a stage: the first is a pink, cancer-shaped icon meaning a check-up is needed; the second is a purple flower shape meaning normal; and the third is a blue circle meaning healthy.
This system was designed to be as simple and intuitive as collecting coupon stamps, so that seniors could quickly understand their status.Design Solution 2
Three-step icon graphics
I designed icons that start in the shape of cancer cells and gradually transform into circular, forms when an appointment is booked, creating a more positive and reassuring experience.
Process
This platform was designed specifically for older adults, with a very simple and easy-to-use interface.
As the circle completes, it naturally guides seniors toward booking their health checkups. Once they complete the exam, they receive discount coupons for groceries and daily necessities turning healthcare into a rewarding and approachable experience.
Result
The concept received positive recognition and was awarded the iF Student Design Award. Through this project, I learned how design can address major social issues by reframing negative perceptions into positive, engaging experiences.
